The MomCare Program is administered through the Healthy Start Coalition and is available statewide in Florida. MomCare is a Medicaid funded program which began Dec. 1, 2001, specifically designed for moms-to-be who would not normally be eligible for Medicaid but qualify because of an expansion of the eligibility criteria during pregnancy. The purpose of the program is to help ensure early prenatal care, thereby producing healthy birth outcomes. The program is implemented through the services of Maternity Care Advisors (MCA) who contact each Medicaid eligible pregnant woman to provide the following services:
